Hello,
I had the same problem too with my Retropie 4.8 original image from Retropie homepage and the Raspberry Pi 3 b+ .I use 3.5mm audio output for my system.
If you have Raspberry Pi 3 b+ or Raspberry Pi 4 and use also 3.5mm output Jack for the audio, then I think this solution below can solve your problem too:https://www.fastoe.com/blog/how-to-fix-failed-to-find-mixer-elements

@mitu I tried again with a fresh image, and double checked that the problem begins after installing pixel desktop, i didnt change any audio setting, I´m using and HDMI cable to the TV.
-
@niyoki Thanks for your help, anyway the string is already there and the error shows after installing pixel desktop.
-
@pindapoe Installing the desktop adds PulseAudio, that's taking over the audio output. EmulationStation doesn't support PulseAudio, hence the error shown in the terminal.
-
@mitu Thanks for the answer, and can I uninstall the pulse audio?
-
@pindapoe You can disable it from the Audio menu in RetroPie, but it will cause issues when you use the Desktop unless you disable or remove the
lxplug-volumepulse
package. -
@mitu Thanks a lot, that fixed it :)
