Fake PS3 Controller Triggers won't work

Greetings!
I've been using RetroPie for a few months now and I just bought a cheap fake PS3 controller I followed the tutorial on the docs and I made it work both with USB and Bluetooth. However, for some unknown reason, the RetroPie can't detect both the left and the right trigger. I tried and successfully connected the controller on a windows system and it does recognize the triggers. Any ideas?
