      Hi everyone!

I'm a programmer with a background in AI and Software Development. I have very little experience when it comes to hardware and decided I would like to start learning with a Raspberry Pi kit including the official 7" touch screen display with DSI connection.

I have my RPI working with retropie and an SSH connection setup. However, I can't seem to get the display to show anything at all. I can use the pi just fine on an HDMI screen.

From what I understand it should just work out of the box. I also tried the LCD-show package and the LCD-show-retropie package (which I needed to display on HDMI), but the latter only seems to support RPI 1, 2 and 3. Communication with the store has brought me nowhere.

However, based on this thread it seems that there is hope for this setup. Any tips or suggestions would be much appreciated.

P.s.: I'm pretty sure the power works! If I just power the display my RPI powers up as well. I've checked the DSI connector as well and it matches several tutorials.

@LinaAnna said in RPI 4B with RetroPie and touch screen:

It may work out-of-the-box with recent Raspberry Pi OS versions, but not with RetroPie, which uses the previous RPI OS Release (based on Buster).

If you're using the current Raspi OS from https://www.raspberrypi.com/software/ is the screen working ?

@mitu Actually I've been trying to get that working. I also have a RPI 2 (?) or something, which I've installed Raspberry Pi OS on. If I put that card into my RPI 2 I can ssh in and I still couldn't get the screen working.

If I put the same SD card (AFAIK the image you install is the same? I use Raspberry Pi Imager) in my RPI 4B I can't SSH in because the standard password somehow isn't 'raspberry'? I even reinstalled. Either way I can't get anything to show up on the screen with either of the pi's. I think it's DOA, but the company I got it from is not responding to me anymore.
