      Model: Pi4B
Power Supply used: CanaKit 3.5A Raspberry Pi 4 Power Supply.
      RetroPie Version Used: 4.7.1
Built From: Pre made SD Image on RetroPie website.
      USB Devices connected: Usb keyboard.
      Controller used: 8bitdo SN 30 Pro+
      Error messages received:
-100%: Pro Controller (1406/8201) not configured
-Error message: (grep: /opt/retropie/emulators/retroarch/autoconfig-presets/udev: no such file or directory)

Out of the clear blue sky... after months of my Pi working fine and me just having fun playing games, I’m suddenly getting slapped in the face with “not configured” error messages when starting a game. This is especially frustrating because my Pi is... or rather WAS in a state where everything worked perfectly, and I simply had no need to touch the settings at all anymore.

My controller works perfectly fine for Retropie menus, but as soon as I start any game, I see: (100%: Pro Controller (1406/8201) not configured). When this happens, the controller IMMEDIATELY disconnects, and I can’t use it. I also cant use a keyboard at all, because keyboards won’t respond either… even If I press F4. This leaves me no choice but to force-restart my pi using my case’s power button.

I can try to set controls from the Retropie menu by pressing start and remapping all the buttons, but this doesn’t work. When I press F4 after mapping the controls, I see this (https://ibb.co/Sd0zvJf). I have tried using my PC to ssh into this folder and indeed cannot find what it points to.

I have also tried going into RetroPie-Setup -> Manage packages -> Manage core packages -> emulationstation -> Configuration -> Clear/Reset Emulation Station input configuration. And I remapped all the buttons afterward to find I STILL cannot play games due to my controller “not being configured”.

Please help me to game in peace again...

        • What mode are you using the SN30 Pro+ in? Xinput, Dinput, Android, or Switch?
        • Are you connected via bluetooth?
        • If so, did you use the option to create a UDEV rule in the bluetooth menu?
        • Do you see issues when wired and in Xinput mode?

The error message indicates you've upgraded EmulationStation, but not RetroArch. Upgrade the RetroArch package and re-configure your gamepad from EmulationStation again.

@mitu Thanks for responding. I figured out a solution minutes after posting my question... maybe.

My solution was (ironically) to "update all installed core packages" within RetroPie-Setup. This caused the missing "autoconfig-presets" directory to be re-generated in the correct place.

Everything seems to work fine for now, but hopefully doing this won't cause new bugs elsewhere. If I encounter any more problems I will also make sure
            retroarch is updated.
