lr-dosbox-pure exit strategy

Raspberry Pi 400

Buster running RetroPie 4.8
USB Devices connected: Official Pi 400 Mouse
Controller used: Voyee Xbox 360 controllerI've been switching gears a little bit lately and doing a bit of computer emulation as opposed to consoles. (hence the Pi 400) I've got pretty much all other emulators the way I want them, but I'm trying to figure out a solution for DOS. I really like lr-dosbox-pure due to its simplicity, portability, and functionality (And I've got everything currently setup with it), but I've got one issue I can't quite figure out. After having setup all of my DOS games, I added a quick hotkey to exit games with joystick buttons, and added the -exit flag to the pc emulators.cfg. (Which bypasses the lr-dosbox-pure start menu where you select your executable, etc) And with the joystick, it works great!
My issue is when termination is initiated from within the running game. (via the internal game menu, or game-specific hotkey, etc) The game exits to the Retroarch menu. From here, I can still exit and bypass the lr-dosbox-pure start menu, but it's just.....messy.
Is there a way that I'm missing to completely bypass the Retroarch menu when the DOS game is terminated using lr-dosbox-pure?

Try adding
quit_on_close_content = "1"
to the
pc
system'sretroarch.cfg

@mitu Good suggestion, but still no luck. I even verified the setting in the Retroarch Menu-Settings-User Interface, and although the setting shows active, it does not seem to have helped. (The behavior is unchanged)
