I'm running Captain America and the Avengers on Mame 2003+ and it's a 4-player game. My arcade cabinet only has two joysticks. I'm only able to select The Vision on player 1. Does anyone have any tricks on how to select different characters for this classic Data East arcade game? Or were the characters permanently bound to each specific player joystick on the original arcade cabinet?

      Thanks!

        Yes.
Many 4 (or more) player games work this way. Even separate coin slots.

On this page you can see an image of the arcade cabinet and how it has 4 sticks and 4 coin slots.

Several of these games also have a [2P] alternate rom that allows you to select characters, but may not allow you to have more than 2 players at once. Handy if you are just playing solo.

@YFZdude Thank you very much for the quick response! I was able to locate a 2-player version and it does allow me to select. Very cool. Thanks again!!

Additional info in case anyone needs it.
Apparently this rom is one that might also use a dip switch setting to select between 4 player or 2 player cabinet hardware.
