      I have a RP3b+
running the latest ver of RetroPie v4.8
      & Mame 2003 plus

I get a static burst sound when screensaver starts & randomly here n there as diff videos switch and sometimes just a random click when the screensaver is on.

Also some static crackling occasionally in donkey kong jumpman returns.

Currently my vram is set to 100mb which was the default.
Omx Audio Device is set to both

Can anyone suggest the best way to tweak this to get rid of those nasty static sound and pops n clicks?

@nollerd2 Update, its only when the video snap screensavers are going. when I turned them off and just made the screen go dark, I haven't heard a single noise in hours.. so it def has something to do with the snaps and I didn't have them stretching to full size of the screen either.

Try disabling omxplayer and use the built-in video player (based on vlc). Did you, by any chance, installed the desktop environment from the RetroPie-Setup menu ?

@nollerd2 It doesn't have a name per-se, it uses the vlc provided libraries to render the video and audio.
