Discussion of lr-np2kai (pc98) changes (m3u support and MIDI)
-
Hi fellow PC-98 fans,
I recently updated my PC-98 libretro core (lr-np2kai), mainly to test out MIDI output using MT-32 emulation with munt in some games. But more to that later...
I found out yesterday that
.m3u
"playlists" are no longer supported. I asked on the libretro board but AZO234 (the developer) is Japanese and generally not very outspoken, so I have to wait for an answer...I have written a small tutorial for multi disk and cd games some time ago, but the multi disk part now no longer works that way. You can however still use
.cmd
files to achieve the same thing. I'll change my tutorial as soon as I find yout if.m3u
support is gone for good. Now for the MIDI part:
As I mentioned in my X6800 MIDI post, almost the same settings are needed for PC-98 emulation to get MIDI music in some games. The only difference here is, that you only need munt and no TiMidity demon.BUT: After playing a PC-98 MIDI game, my keyboard doesn't work anymore: it only registers some strange key presses.
I haven't posted an issue on the np2kai github page yet, because I first wanted to hear whether I'm alone with this problem.
Contributions to the project are always appreciated, so if you would like to support us with a donation you can do so here.
