      Hi All,

I am having a new issue with a fresh install on a Rasberry Pi 3B+ where when exiting a game using the Hotkey Combo (Start + Select) I end up with a blank screen. I have given it some time thinking maybe it's just a little slow to respond but it never loads back into Emulation Station. So far my only way to get around this issue is to reboot either by SSH or just unplug.

I have tried a few suggestions I came across while searching but so far nothing seems to help. Anyone else having this issue? Any suggestions on how to fix it?

Pi Model or other hardware: 3B+
Power Supply used: Official RPi PSU
RetroPie Version Used: v4.8 (Installed via Raspberry Pi Imager)
Built From: Pre Made (Installed via Raspberry Pi Imager)
USB Devices connected: Keyboard and two usb joystick \ button handlers
      Controller used:
      Error messages received:
      Verbose log:
      Guide used:
      File:
      Emulator: arcade\FBAlpha
      Attachment of config files:
How to replicate the problem: Exit game using hotkey combination

      Thanks

Please add the info requested in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first to your post, including the emulator used and the game started.
Are you start EmulationStation from the desktop by any chance ?

If you have SSH enabled, can you check whether retroarch is still running after you issue the exit command (and the black screen shows up) ?
Did you add anything in the onstart/onend scripts that may run before the emulator stops ?
What's your screen resolution and what type of display are you using ?
