I'm hoping someone here has done this before and can help me out.

I have USB joystick controllers (from Easyget) and I'm having some difficulties figuring out how to get them configured properly. I've looked through the Advance MAME docs and see how to set up the advmame.rc file for inputs. My challenge is how to figure out what each button will report to Advance MAME when pressed. I saw something about a test utility but I'm unable to find it in my RetroPie install.

If anyone knows what buttons 1 - 12 on the Easyget controller will map to for inclusion in the Advance MAME config file, I would appreciate hearing!

      Thanks!!!!!!!!

Run /opt/retropie/emulators/advmame/bin/advm and it should report the button input code(s) while you press the buttons.

@mitu Thanks for the info! I had a bit of trouble because advm only tests the mouse. I had to use advj to check the joystick.

Now I'm having issues trying to figure out what DIGITAL is the one that will exit the emulator. Google seems to have failed me and the Advance MAME documentation isn't clear either. I tried the "safequit" mapped to one of my buttons but that does not seem to do anything.

I was hopeful that I could just use the key_esc to simulate hitting the ESC key but the key_ mappings only work with Advance MESS.

@Sailing_Nut i used to map "CANCEL UI" to "´select´ & ´start´" in AdvanceMAME.
This quits a game with the hotkey-combination we all know from the lr-emulators ;D
