So I'm playing this in lr-vice64:

but the controls have been set up weirdly, such that the only way I can play it is by using P1 A for accelerate, P1 B for left and P2 B for right.

I'm scratching my head trying to figure out a way to remap those controls onto the P1 joystick. Anyone help?
Raspberry Pi 3b and 8GB Raspberry Pi 4, both running Retropie 4.7.1 installed from scratch using Raspberry Pi Imager, with wired keyboard, wireless mouse and double arcade joystick attached.
