      (N64) mupen64plus-GlideN64 - Zelda: Majora's Mask - Lens of Truth crashes game

      (I suppose this probably goes upstream. Should I forward it on to https://github.com/mupen64plus/mupen64plus-core or should it go somewhere else?)

      RPi4, HDMI 720p, RetroPie 4.8.4. Stand-alone (non-libretro) mupen64plus using latest binary fd46722:

      $ cat /opt/retropie/emulators/mupen64plus/retropie.pkg
      pkg_origin="binary"
      pkg_date="2023-03-11T10:15:36-08:00"
      pkg_repo_type=":_pkg_info_mupen64plus"
      pkg_repo_url=""
      pkg_repo_branch=""
      pkg_repo_commit=""
      pkg_repo_date="2023-03-10T17:05:45-08:00"
      pkg_repo_extra="fd467223b9c0b64aeb45537aea646fe0"

      Using GlideN64 plugin: mupen64plus-GlideN64

      Happens equally in both:

      2a0a8acb61538235bc1094d297fb6556 Legend of Zelda, The - Majora's Mask (USA).z64

      ...and:

      ac0751dbc23ab2ec0c3144203aca0003 Legend of Zelda, The - Majora's Mask (USA) (GameCube).z64

      (Interestingly, the same save file works for both titles. This was initially discovered during a playthrough using the "GameCube" version. Subsequent testing done with the "regular/original" version.)

      WORKS on the trail to Mountain Village
      WORKS *(sometimes) on the trail to Snowhead
      WORKS on the trail to Goron Village

      CRASHES in Mountain Village
      CRASHES in Goron Village

      *(on continued testing, sometimes it would crash in this area as well, a second or so after activating the lens. In the villages proper it would crash immediately and every time.)

      To reproduce: the attached save file places you in Mountain Village. Exit to the south or southeast to confirm that the lens works. Then, return to Mountain Village or continue on to Goron Village, and activate the lens to initiate crash.

      Log with --verbose (the xboxdrv warning on the last line is unrelated: https://pastebin.com/KCwcBfsW

      Save file (crc32 b9060b22): https://we.tl/t-fTRS3X6PmD

      Other things I have tried:

      mupen64plus-gles2rice: lens works, but graphical glitches are pervasive (example: severe flickering on pause/item select screen)

      mupen64plus-gles2n64: lens works, but game is displayed in a tiny corner of the screen in all tested video modes and graphical glitches are pervasive.

      lr-mupen64plus-next (libretro implementation): lens works, but game is less performant with increased audio dropouts and a noticeably slower framerate.

        @sleve_mcdichael did you ever find a solution to this? Or find any specific emulator to be more playable than others?

          @mjs2011 I don't think there is any one perfect solution. I just used gles2rice and put up with the flickering menu screens, temporarily switching over to GLideN64 whenever I need to use the Bomber's Notebook.

            Was lr-mupen64plus-next that bad? I remember playing it through unlocking achievements with that on the pi 4 a few years ago and it seemed ok on N64 native resolution

            Pi 5 4GB

            Retroflag GPI with raspberry pi zero 2 w/ wifi

              @retropieuser555 I got noticeably reduced framerate and frequent audio drop-outs with lr-next on a stock Pi4 w/ no overclock.
