I want to play nethack on my retropie....
-
Allo!
I am quite new with retropie! I am loving it so far. I am asking here because I just dont know what to search for to do something like this since it doesnt really use an emulator. Can someone point me in the right direction? And I just tried to download nethack.... and their link is broken. bleh. But I still want to know how to do something like this! -

Sorry I didnt put in support cause I thought maybe directions were out there already and I just didnt know enough about what to search on...
-
@cgutzmer You could try
sudo apt install games-rogue
. There is a nethack variant in there, but also a lot of other rogue clones.This package won't be usable as-is in Emulationstation/Retropie, but you could just drop some scripts in the
ports
rom dir to start these games... -
@ecto cool thank you! If I drop the scripts in there.... how do I activate them? I will look into this ports rom dir!
Thanks muchly

@cgutzmer Just add a
.sh
script in theports
folder, containing the command that starts the game. Then just restart EmulationStation and the script should show up under ports ready to be started. -
@mitu oh that is super cool! easy peasy! you guys are all awesome!
-
@mitu I dont have a ports folder. Its ok to just make one?
-
@cgutzmer You'll have to install one, so in addition to the game folder, EmulationStation is also configured to look there. Just install one of the ports available (Cannonball for instance, it's pretty small).
