Ubuntu 22.04.2 - Emulationstation not centered on screen or resolution issue/trouble ?? How i can fix ??
-
I have this Retropie Setup on this UBUNTU 22.04.2
It's installed on ASUS NUC VM40B.
Internal HDD 500Gb and Ubuntu it's updated to 22.04.2Before last week i never obtain this issue.... last week need to reboot my NUC after a blackout.
At reboot i have reopen "Rpie" from desktop of Ubuntu and immediatelly notes this issue:Emulationstation it's not anymore centerd on the screen.... it's cutted down at bottom of the screen and apparently, upper, it's present a line of a terminal ??
How it's possible ?
If need i can try to made a screenshot of my screen and try to upload in some host service.
After a week, right now i'm again in front of this Ubuntu PC and i have made some Google Search.
Apparently the cause of this issue/trouble it's WAYLAND because i have try to logout and relogin my account using Xorg instead WayLand and now ES it's back to start at full screen and center as ever.
I don't have idea... i use this NUC for about 4 or 5 months and never obtain this issue and problably i ever use Wayland and never cause this issue on my PC.
Now ? How i can fix ? Need to disable Wayland it's a solution ?
It's exist a workaround ? Need to update EmulationStation (apparently i have the current commit on retropie_setup_script).If someone has some suggestion thanks in advance.

EDIT: I found the solution shortly after posting. Close emulationstation, log out of the account on Ubuntu, select the user to login with, click the gear icon in the lower right and pick “Ubuntu on xorg” then sign in. This fixed it for me.
I’m seeing the same thing on Ubuntu 20.04.2 and also have the latest Retropie packages installed via retropie setup. I didn’t have the problem until recently when I updated both the OS and Retropie to latest versions.
In my setup, when autostart starts emulationstation the bar is at the top which does indeed show the top line of the terminal window behind the window.
If I close emulationstation and start it manually from a terminal then both the Ubuntu dock and the top toolbar are over the emulationstation window.
Some screenshots below if helpful.

mmmmmmmmm.... i have apparently resolved the issue also on my NUC.
I need to disable directly Wayland (https://onlinux.systems/guides/20220520_how-to-disable-wayland-on-ubuntu-2204)
The only issue/trouble:
After last command for restart gdm3 i have obtain a AUDIO issue and on NUC it's not works the audio HDMI passthrought.I have try to fix but i have simply need to reboot my NUC and on next boot HDMI audio it's back to works and now EmulationStation it's back to works normally.
After that the idea it's........ it's need to fix EmulationStation ? On next update of Ubuntu problably this fix it's been resolved ?
Apparently noone can suggest nothings...... instead only solution PUT ON SLEEP WAYLAND.

@DjDiabolik I also had same issue with 22.04 LTS and Wayland, Changed Xorg and that issue has gone. I think current EmulationStation or RetroPie has compatibility issue with Wayland.

Yesterday i have tryed to re-enable wayland on my NUC Ubuntu......... lol current emulationstation immediatelly this issue back again. Disabled again immediatelly :)
My current NUC it's very old hardware...... I have no idea whether to disable Wayland whit a most capable hardware (like if you have a "real" GPU Card) can create issue/trouble other thing like dedicated linux OpenGL driver etc etc.
