Gameboy too fast

I can't seem to find anyone else with this issue yet, but I was just testing my new Pi3 with 4.0 RC2 and default GB libretro emulator and it runs a little bit erratic. Speed seems fine, then it speeds up suddenly and slows back down. I'm just using a basic retrolink USB SNES controller and no other peripherals attached. I'm dog tired now, but I'll do more testing tomorrow
