I ![am new to cabinet building and built my first cabinet about 1 year and a half ago.. I was extremely happy with the results and it had been working great. I have built my collection to around 10 consoles and 2000 or so roms. Around November of last year i noticed that a good portion of my classic arcade console games quit working, when I try to load them they immediately go back to the game list menu. I am not sure why this randomly happened. Maybe an emulator auto update?
All of the Roms were located in the Mame 2003 folder and as I said were working fine for over a year and not everyone quit working but a good amount did .. is there any way, if it was an emulator update that I can revert back to a previous version that worked properly. Thanks in advance for any help

Mame2003 hasn't changed any romsets in a long time, so the same ROMs should be working as they were a year ago with that emulator.

Post your system info - as requested in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first. Get a verbose log from running a faulty game and post it on pastebin.com, providing the link to the log in this topic.

I'm not sure what you mean by that, could you give an example ?

The purpose of those vintaged cores was to be snapshots of how the concerned emulator was back in that year, amongst other thing to guarantee the romsets don't change and to prevent the performance regressions coming from bugfixes. Well, i recently learnt that the situation might be more hazardous though, but i don't think retropie is auto-updating so i suppose your issue is elsewhere.
