Raspberry pie update crashes

Raspberry pi 2 bought from website. If I try and update I get this error even if I click Wi-Fi which I believe has connected. if I click anything under RetroPie set up, it says the following:
0 upgraded, 5 Newley installed, 0 to remove and 5 not upgraded.
Need to get 385 KB of archives.it says what packages cannot be authenticated.
There are problems and -y was used without —force-yes
Unable to install packages required by /home/RetroPi/Retropie-setup/RetroPie _packages.

Is there anyway to fix this please?

What RetroPie version have you installed ? Please provide the info requested in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.

@mitu is there another way to find the RetroPie version other than clicking on RetroPie setup as that just runs the same script as shown above I am unable to select anything. I can clock RetroPie get the menu RetroPie set up,Wi-Fi etc but if I click anything on the menu the same script runs, sorry can’t provide more information. I’ve had it for around 5 years so would imagine an old version and not attempted to uodaye until now

@owsey147 Your OS is outdated and no longer supported; currently only Debian 10 (Buster) is supported and, unfortunately, cannot be upgraded in-place.

In addition, is not practical to troubleshoot a system that neither you nor we have any idea how is configured. For this reason, purchased systems and other third-party builds are not supported in any capacity.

For both of these reasons, you will need to perform a fresh install of the latest supported version.

I suggest you to backup if able your existing roms and BIOS, and then install the current latest official image for your hardware from the website at https://retropie.org.uk/download. After the new version is installed, you can restore your backed up roms folder.
