Here is my issues.. I had retropie/emulation station on a card with for a number of years now. i havent been using it but my son is now. Everything was working fine but I couldnt get the bluetooth to work for wireless controls. I tried updating retropie and it failed. Now the retropie menu when anything is selected it goes to a black screen and says unable to install packages then boots me back out to emulation station. I have tried updating thru terminal as well as "fix Missing". I dont really know what I am doing but its not working. lol. That being said I have now downloaded a new version of retropie (as the old one is probably from 2015) It is installing on another sd card as I type. I have an image of my faulty card on the computer as well as a second sd card. The faulty card, the games will still play but no retropie menu options will work. I am wondering how to either pull all roms, saves, scraped data, and backsplash from my original image and put them on the new one (if thats possible) or if someone else has any ideas how to get that menu working agian on the old image. any input would be greatly aprreciated.

I appear to have a new problem as well with the fresh install. Screen goes to terminal and at the top it read "Illegal Instruction". .....

You can backup your files and transfer them to the new install : https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Updating-RetroPie/?h=backup#making-a-backup

@windg Thanks. I may be stuck for now though. I am at the lake with limited options. Was hoping i could just pull them off 1 sd card and put on another. This doesn't appear possible without a network to run the ssh...

If the RetroPie menu is still function then you can copy your roms to external storage with the help of the file manager, you will need a keyboard.

When you open the file manager you will saw two same panels, from here you have access to all system files. You can choose panel with tab button. Choose to one panel your external storage and to the other panels the files you want to copy/paste. Then choose the file/folder you want to transfer and press the F5 button, they will copy to the external storage.
