Perfect Dark and gles2rice graphical glitches
-
Hi everyone.
On a Pi 4 8GB, Perfect Dark on mupen64plus-gles2rice runs with heavy graphical glitches, flickering etc.Nonetheless Roslof's Google sheet and some threads here mention this is supposed to be the best best for Perfect Dark.
Could anything have changed since 2017 (time when the sheet was written) ? How do you guys play Perfect Dark right now ? lr-mupen64-next is pretty solid on 640x480, always above 45fps which is far better than the original game, but the sound is often choppy even though the game does not lag much (not more than the original one I mean)
Info :
Pi 4B
Official 4B power supply
RetroPie 4.8 built from rpi-imager
No change in mupen64 config fileThank you.

@LLD I actually solved it, setting ScreenUpdateSetting to 7 solved it. Is there any explanation of how this setting influences émulation specific to each game ? I guess 7 is bad for some other games
Also audio is still choppy during slowdowns, any idea of how to solve that ?

@LLD not really, I think the reason rice is selected (as it's quite old) is because the camspy doesn't work with other video plugins? Tbf the situation could be different 6 years later.
I know for Mystical Ninja starring goemon and Pilotwings update 7 is needed otherwise the games won't run properly

@retropieuser555 @LLD correct in that audio cannot easily be addressed. I added the note about ScreenUpdateSetting = 7 in the sheet. Note there is also a comment in there for Perfect Dark from @George-Spiggott
Could also try Next/640x360 16:9 with MSAA Level 2 (recommended by @George-Spiggott RetroPie forums)
Forgive that my pi is offline (building lr-mess) at the moment, but I recall Perfect Dark could not be perfectly emulated with any system and there were some sacrifices with any proposed solution.
