      Hello all,

      I am new to RetroPie. I am trying to get cheats setup for my system. Previously I have used retroarch on pc, and I have had to manually create and add cheat files (Game Genie - Genesis). I used the following instructions to change where retroarch on my rp3 stores cheat files (https://www.reddit.com/r/RetroPie/comments/4ceyty/you_cant_get_cheats_to_work_well_heres_how/) . However, I cannot see the cheats directory from /RetroPie. Is there any way I can make the folder public so I can just drag and drop cheat files that I have already created?

        You need to create the folder manually and you need to add the path to retroarch.cfg Just create the cheat folder in the roms directory so you can acces it trough the network. Open the main retroarch.cfg file and look for:

        '# Path to cheat database directory.
        cheat_database_path = "/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/CHEATS/"

        '# Path to XML cheat config, a file which keeps track of which
        '# cheat settings are used for individual games.
        '# If the file does not exist, it will be created.
        cheat_settings_path = "/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/CHEATS/XML/"

        I highlighted the paths I made for my cheat file. Just do the same and it should work. Also Genesis emulator had some problems loading the cheats, they don't get injected into the memory. In a later version Gamegenie did work but other cheat device codes didn't.

          Thanks! that did the trick. I should have mentioned at first that I did create a cheats folder manually and updated the retroarch config file. I could see the folder via a remote SSH session with putty, but I could not see the folder graphically from my home network. Adding it the roms folder has allowed me to drop and drag the additional cheat files that I made.

          For the Genesis cheats, I have had luck using the genesis plus emulator for GG cheats.

            @Delita091 If you're on Windows just enter \RETROPIE\roms in the run box and it should open. You can copy n paste all the cheat files. You can download them from within the RGUI menu, I forgot the option but it was something with update online. But these cheat files are not always completed.

            I get all my cheats from this site:

            http://bsfree.shadowflareindustries.com/index.php

            And from:

            http://gamehacking.org/search
