Menu item "Disable Background Music" in retropie menu- I would like to remove (I believe a background music package that I uninstalled did not remove it for some reason)

One of these 2 packages caused this problem I believe:

      https://github.com/Naprosnia/RetroPie_BGM_Player

      https://github.com/Rydra/bgm-for-es

I'm just hoping someone here can show me how to manually delete the setting from the retropie configuration list.-- I imagine this has to be done by looking in the system files.

Thank you all for any guidance you can give

How did you install them ? They're not part of RetroPie, they're 3rd party add-ons that you must install manually.

@mitu Thank you for your reply. The were installed through terminal using the instructions provided at their github.

I agree about them being add-ons.

I have determined it was this one that has left the errant menu item somehow:

          https://github.com/Rydra/bgm-for-es

The page you mention has uninstallation instructions also - try to follow them to uninstall the player.

@mitu I have attempted as you said. And it did not remove both menu items. It removed the "Enable Background Music" but not the "Disable Background Music".

I will try again tonight when I get back to the installation but I imagine it may remain.

Thank you again for your response.

I will report back this evening either way. I imagine it will persist.

@mitu I am looking at this at the moment. I have uninstalled both 3rd party packages. Rebooted after each uninstallation.

And for some reason I still have the menu items left in the retropie menu from this package:

                https://github.com/Rydra/bgm-for-es

One thing I am a little confused about is when in the terminal do I copy paste all of the below into it and it enter or one line at a time:

                curl -sSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Rydra/bgm-for-es/main/scripts/install-esbgm.py > install-esbgm.py

                python3 install-esbgm.py --uninstall

Their uninstall instructions make it seem like I copy paste all in one command.

                https://github.com/Rydra/bgm-for-es

Thank you for helping me troubleshoot these issues that are probably my fault to begin with. :-/

Also the menu item that is being left in the menu is "enable background music"

@mitu I went through the uninstallation procedure again for the offending package. The setting is still left in the retropie menu.

Is there any nuclear approach I can try for this without starting from a new image. It will make me sad if I have to redo all of my creation.— hindsight is 20/20 but I should’ve made a backup before I started with the 3rd party packages.

Thank you for any thoughts you have and thank you for the help you have given me.

Maybe you have to delete the script from there:~/RetroPie/retropiemenu

My English isn't at a good level.

@windg Thank you for this idea. I will try it and see if it fixes the problem.

I will report back after giving your idea a try.

                      Thank you!!
