The bios is defnietly there, has the correct name and correct checksum:
pi@raspberrypi:~ $ ls -lisa /home/pi/RetroPie/BIOS/ insgesamt 4128 655527 4 drwxr-xr-x 8 pi pi 4096 Jan 1 10:52 . 655523 4 drwxr-xr-x 6 pi pi 4096 Sep 3 2017 .. 674272 4 drwxr-xr-x 2 pi pi 4096 Feb 18 2017 Databases 674464 8 -rw-r--r-- 1 pi pi 8192 Sep 29 2021 fast.bin 674399 4 drwxr-xr-x 3 pi pi 4096 Jun 13 2017 fba 655559 4 -rw-r--r-- 1 pi pi 1745 Sep 3 2017 gles2n64rom.conf 674328 12 drwxr-xr-x 202 pi pi 12288 Feb 18 2017 Machines 674427 4 drwxr-xr-x 3 pi pi 4096 Jun 13 2017 mame2003 674462 988 -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 1009534 Sep 29 2021 NstDatabase.xml 674401 4 drwxr-xr-x 2 pi pi 4096 Feb 18 2017 palettes 1306084 4 drwxr-xr-x 2 pi pi 4096 Jan 1 01:06 psx 653753 512 -rw-r--r-- 1 pi pi 524288 Jan 1 10:52 scph1001.bin 653050 512 -rw-r--r-- 1 pi pi 524288 Jan 1 00:34 SCPH1001.BIN 652909 512 -rw-r--r-- 1 pi pi 524288 Dez 31 22:50 scph5500.bin 652907 512 -rw-r--r-- 1 pi pi 524288 Dez 31 22:50 scph5501.bin 652918 512 -rw-r--r-- 1 pi pi 524288 Dez 31 22:50 scph5502.bin 674543 512 -rwxr--r-- 1 pi pi 524288 Feb 23 2002 scph7502.bin 674465 8 -rw-r--r-- 1 pi pi 8192 Sep 29 2021 skip.bin 674466 8 -rw-r--r-- 1 pi pi 8192 Sep 29 2021 system.bin pi@raspberrypi:~ $ md5sum /home/pi/RetroPie/BIOS/scph1001.bin 924e392ed05558ffdb115408c263dccf /home/pi/RetroPie/BIOS/scph1001.bin pi@raspberrypi:~ $ md5sum /home/pi/RetroPie/BIOS/SCPH1001.BIN 924e392ed05558ffdb115408c263dccf /home/pi/RetroPie/BIOS/SCPH1001.BIN
I even copied it in all the potential directories that look like they could house bios files for emulators as it refused to work. And provided both, all upper and all lower case in case it needs some combination of files.
But now I have run completely out of ideas. As you can see from the output at the very least the scph1001.bin should be correct in every way for this emulator according to:
https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Playstation-1/#lr-pcsx_rearmed_1I have tried restarting emulation station and full reboots. I am completely at my wits end. Well, I don't have full redundancy of every combination in each folder. But I am kinda ready to give up now.

@noBios what does the verbose log say?
-
Maybe
retroarch.cfg
file is broken. Did you use the save mechanism in the retroarch menu? Please add more info about your system: https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first -
Thanks!
Sort of resolved.I went through the verbose log.
Found:[WARN] SYSTEM DIR is empty, assume CONTENT DIR /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/psx/Silent Bomber (USA).cue [INFO] Environ SYSTEM_DIRECTORY: "/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/psx/". no BIOS files found.
Okay, odd, but lets just try putting a bios file next to the rom...
If I put the bios files in the same folder as the ROM the bios gets found and performance improves as expected. Aka: Audio gets more consistent and it does no longer randomly just hang.
This might not explain why it doesn't find the bios where it is supposed to be according to the docs. but then again who knows what I messed up when I set this up a few years ago. Point is the information from the log was accurate and helpful.
This log to be precise:
/dev/shm/runcommand.logPreviously I have only looked at:
/opt/retropie/configs/all/emulationstation/es_log.txt
