Can't change controls in MAME4all-pi
-
In MAME4all-pi, I am entering the configuration menu to change controls to suit a new joystick I installed, but I can't enter the menu from the joystick, so I have to use the keyboard. The problem is I have to have both the joystick and the keyboard connected to change the controls, but I have a Kingston USB flash drive connected at all times (because the SD card slot on my Raspberry Pi is faulty, but it can read the boot partition from an SD card fine, so most of my files are on a USB), so I can't have the keyboard and the joystick connected at the same time. I tried to change the configuration using WinSCP, but the .cfg file with the controls looks corrupted, but it appears to be saved and recognised fine on the Raspberry Pi. I also do not have a powered USB hub I can use.
This is what the .cfg file looks like -
http://pastebin.com/FWXGha5nPi Model: 1 B
RetroPie Version Used: 3.8.1
Built From: SD Image
USB Devices connected: Kingston USB Flash Drive, generic joystick/keyboard
Controller used: generic joystick
Error messages received: None
Guide used: None
File: /opt/retropie/configs/mame-mame4all/cfg/default.cfg
Emulator: MAME4all-pi
Attachment of config files: http://pastebin.com/FWXGha5n
How to replicate the problem: Open MAME4all-pi game, try to enter the config with keyboard, and change controls for joystick -
The config file is not manually editable - it is a binary config. You will have to find a way to connect both your keyboard and joystick together (eg a usb hub). If you don't own one then they are useful things - so it is worth getting one.
