Right this is literally as the title states

      Device Pi3 B+
      os retropie 4.8.4

Was working fine a few days a go.

I can ping retropie.org.uk and it pings fine
I can update through raspian tools
I can access the internet fine from Desktop side of retropie and install apps etc.
      Even Scrapper updates fine.

But when using retropie side it now nolonger shows IP address (but can access via SSH) and if I check for updates it states the following...

"Sorry, You don't seem to be connected to the internet so installing/updating is not available"

So I know I am connected to the net but for some reason certain parts of retropie doesn't think it is.

      Any advice/ fix folks?

      regards
      Lohtse

Did you change anything on your router/network configuration on the Pi (install a VPN/PiHole/etc.) ? There's nothing extra that's done by RetroPie as far as networking is concerned - it just uses the network capability of the underlying OS (Raspberry Pi OS Lite).

The "Sorry, You don't seem to be connected to the internet so installing/updating is not available" is shown after this check, which is based on the detected IP address, which is checked here.
Run the commands from the getIpAddress function and see why they fail on your system.

@mituthe only things changed or added have been when I have started the desktop(via cli and startx) but nothing has touched Network etc... And like I have stated the addon Scaper works fine as does any and all network features once in Desktop.

Oddly just notice I nolonger can see an IP address shown but like I said I can access by SSh to the same IP it always uses

and booting to desktop and this shows IP address... something is clearly wrong with retropie side
