No controllers working in SNES
-
Good morning:
I recently installed RetroPie 4.0 on a new Raspberry Pi 3. I followed some instructions I found and was able to get the controllers to work the way I wanted to in all my emulators (the ability to use the analog stick was really the only tweak) and shutdown the system. The next day, I discovered that the games in the SNES emulator no longer worked with my controller -- repeatedly saying "USB Gamepad is not configured" or with my other various controllers, including my wired xbox 360 controller.
On further troubleshooting, I discovered that the both controllers worked in every other emulator I had installed -- Atari, NES, GBA, GB, GBC, etc. -- and SNES was the lone issue.
I've tried changing the driver from UDEV to SDL, deleting the cfg files for those game pads and reconfiguring, manually reconfiguring through the RetroArch GUI, and changing through the available ROMs. Nothing seems to work. I'm hoping I can find some help here.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone!

@Robust I have this problem too
Rpi3, Retropie4.0, and none of my usb or bluethoot gamepads works with snes (change default emulator doesn't works)

Glad I'm not the only one!

Have you used @floob's video manager at all ?
please post a copy of
/opt/retropie/configs/snes/retroarch.cfg
(via pastebin.com or similar) -

@Robust doesn't matter then - was just wondering if it could be the same problem that some others had (which we have solved).

@BuZz
Hi friend, I'm with reteopie since 2.X, petrockblog, etc...
With a reteopie fresh install in ubuntu everithing it's ok
I think the problem is in retropie (raspi 2/3) preinstalled imageLater, I will try to send you the config

Pi Model: (3)
RetroPie Version Used: (4.0.1)
Built From: (4.0-beta2 SD Image, then multiple binary updates to now)
USB Devices connected: (xbox360 wireless receiver)
Controller used: (2 official xbox360 wireless controllers)Similar issue on my end... I have 2 wireless 360 controllers. Most recent xpad installed and xboxdrv NOT installed.
I cannot get 2nd controller to work in NES, SNES, or Megadrive. "1st player" controller works perfect in all emulators (in addition to those listed). Both controllers are setup in ES and can navigate there just fine.
I also installed the joystick selection tool by meleu, thinking this might be able to remedy my solution. The tool works great, but has had no effect on the 2nd controller working. I also have NOT tried floob's video manager and have made no changes to any retroarch.cfg files.

@BuZz Do you mean the problem with the psx emulator gamepad's that solves flood?

Not quite sure what that means, but I was referring to the PSX issue yes (which is not specifically a PSX issue but related to config files and line endings). But let's not confuse matters - I just wanted to confirm if a tool had been used.

I'm not sure it helps if more people join the thread with "me too" - as they could be similar but unrelated issues. Let me solve one at a time. I also need to see retroarch.cfg files for the emulators in use (
/opt/retropie/configs/[SYSTEM]/retroarch.cfg
and (/opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch.cfg
- via pastebin.com or similar).A second controller not working may be completely unrelated. Please open a new topic.

PS4 controller doesn't work in any Megadrive emulator while on an older version of RetroPie it did. Before the update the Neogeo emulator played all the roms I had now some don't load. My problem is similar to the problem of the topic starter, could this be caused by the same bug?

My post above says to open a new topic - please do so.

Hey buzz i found in several emulators the first time i went into them they worked fine, but then the second time it added all the config junk like he posted. Some did it the first time like the psx.

@edmaul69 because your configs didn't have a newline at the end (perhaps because you used floob video tool?) - This is worked around in the last retropie-setup script.

http://pastebin.com/48KmijUxyou will need to update retropie-setup, remove that config, and re-install the snes emulator. Should sort it. This problelm happened when the config file doesnt contain a newline on the last line of config, which can happen if manually editing on some editors, or using floob's video tool for example.
-
@noguera I don't see a problem in your configs - but its not related to the problem people are having here so you are best to start a new topic - it is far too confusing having 3-4 problems on a single topic.

@BuZz i actually have no clue what floobs video tool is or does as i have never used it or looked at it. I had stuff i added after the #include line that i know retroarch was moving and after the few got messed up i put the info before the #include and it seems fine. But i will try to test more thoroughly and if i have an issue i will just update the emulators as you have suggested.
