Wacky ROM problem

I have a very strange Mame rom problem. My game Rtype plays on version 0.226 from 2020 fine but whae I try to play it on the current version it tells me it is mising roms. I have already put in a few hours trying on my own and am giving up, Any help would be greatly appreciated. Sorry if this is not the correct place for this question I am new to using forums,

Yes, there's nothing special here - arcade ROM can change when new dumps of the original machine are available. This is explained in the MAME documentation here or in our Docs.
You can check the ROM changes on http://adb.arcadeitalia.net/dettaglio_mame.php?game_name=rtype&arcade_only=0&autosearch=1 - look for the Show ROMSET Files to see how the contents of the ROM have changed through various MAME versions.
