Borked my Powerblock. :-(
-
So I just ordered two PowerBlocks for a project. I soldered JST PH-2.0 female headers to power-in, signal 1/2, and power out to both boards. D2 came off both times I soldered. It’s really close to the power-out pins. What does this diode do?
I also replaced the LED and switch header with a 2x2 pin right angle header. But with the first board, I nicked IC1 with my soldering iron accidentally. After working once with a PiZero connected, it stopped working. That’s why I modified the second PowerBlock (PB).
I did some probing. On the working PB, 5V can be seen on the upper right of IC1, but not on the broken PB. So is my broken PB unrepairable? Unfortunately I can’t do SMD soldering yet.
P.S. Is it possible to order a PowerBlock without the 12 pin female header and 4 pin male header installed?

Hi! Sorry that I missed your post. I messed up my watching settings of this thread.
It sounds as if the one PowerBlock somehow got broken, I am sorry for that!
Unfortunately, I only have the PowerBlocks already assembled. Too few people were asking for the bare ones so far. However, I am planning for a next revision that offers more variants when it comes to the connectors, e.g., no connectors, Molex connectors, etc.
I could offer to desolder the header(s) for a small allowance. Please get in contact with me if you are interested in that.
Contributions to the project are always appreciated, so if you would like to support us with a donation you can do so here.
