Cannot install retropiemenu on mounted USB - "Read only" error
-
Hi - I know this is a problem that has come up in part with other people before, but my problem is slightly different in that I can't fix it in the way others can.
I have a Raspberry Pi 4, running Retropie 4.8 with a Canakit power supply.
I was originally running retropie from a pre-loaded image on an SD but I wanted to "do things right" and so got a new SD and installed Retropie direct to that from the website.
For ROMs, I spent a long time copying over the ROMs from the old SD on to a USB stick, as I then wanted to use that stick as a mounted USB to run the ROMs from.
So far, all fine and dandy. The new SD with the official image works fine, and the ROMs do show up in Emulation Station from the retropie-mount folder on the USB.
(Incidentally, I had the ROMs on the USB before then putting it in to the Raspberry Pi to initiate the mount in Retropie... I'm wondering if the below problems might be related to this?!...)
HOWEVER... since adding the mounted USB the Retropie Configuration menu has disappeared.
After looking on here, I have tried to reinstall retropiemenu from the setup interface, but this isn't working.
I am only given the option to install from binary (not source, despite being connected to the wifi), but when I do it, the menu doesn't show up.
I did notice though that I was getting the following on the screen as it was trying to install, indicating that the USB is read-only. But I haven't set it to this and I can write to it fine when it is plugged in to my Windows PC.
Is there something I need to do in Retropie to enable this to work and get the configuration menu properly installed??
All advice gratefully received. (Will just have to use the old pre-made image until then!)

This one is fixed now.
Did a chkdsk on Windows and repaired the drive.
All working now.
