      Hi people,
I've been trying everything that came to my mind (or I googled) to no avail.
Essentially on a clean install of retropie, on a pi zero 2w inserted in a retroflag gpi case 2w I can't have wifi up and running.

      • I can't set country (Italy in my case) because I get an error that it is impossible to communicate with supplicant_wpa
      • I see the service starting during boot sequence...
      • in the wifi connect menu, I can see all the ssid of the various networks
      • if I try to simply connect to wifi either through the menus or a wifikeyfile.txt it fails, but I expect this since the country is not set yet.

My problem? I have no other way to use the pi2w, I don't have a direct way to use it outside the gpi case and I can only use a couple of buttons to interact with it.

Any idea? I feel stuck! Otherwise it is working but I simply can't transfer any rom this way, I'm lost.

Thanks for any useful suggestion. Best.

        Well, I found a solution.
I'll post it just in case anyone runs into my same problem.

I started from scratch using Pi Imager again. This time tho, I've been using the super magic hidden shortcut Shit+Ctrl-X to bring up a hid option panel!
Here I setup the wifi and the country. Then I flashed the sd.

When you first run the system inserting the sd back on the Pi, you'll have no wifi again for some reason. The system suggests to set the country (again) in the rasp-config, just click ok, and lo and behold, this time it works.

I could change the country to my zone, setup my wifi and access the Pi over the network connecting to \retropie

        bingo.
