Cannot edit controls on lr-MAME4ALL
-
I'm running lr-imame4all, on Retropie 4.0.1 (Pi3) . and the ROMS load fine and I can bring up the RGUI and go into those core and control and input menus but there are no options to edit my controller (I'm using a PS4 via USB) buttons or even have the option to use analog instead of D-PAD like with other lr-emulators. If I plug a USB keyboard in the other port Pressing the Tab key on the keyboard does not bring up any options to edit the controls either.
When do the Select + X to try to do the Core Input Remapping and go to Quick Menu, then from there there is no Controls option like it says in the wiki (but there are in the other lr emulators). When I use the same controller with analog and setup was working in RetroArch for my other libreto emulators.Thanks for any help.

Once in Retroarch select options, input, bind controller 1 binds, hope that's right going by memory...
Let me know if that helps

Hey man... so I have found that in the MAME emulators, the input remapping options is not available, but you can still change the buttons under Settings -> input -> InputPlayer1 - I believe that is the menu path to the settings. When you start changing buttons here, keep in mind that it's going to change which buttons are used for "select" and "back" within the retroarch gui. I would recommend doing manual edits to the retroarch.cfg for MAME. Personally, for mame-libretro, I changed only two buttons at the emulator level, then made a custom six button config at the ROM level. I then rename that six button config to match the name of the ROM I want it to apply to and copy it to the directory where the ROMs reside.
Not sure if you have read this or not, but this documentation is precise and I think it will help:
https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/RetroArch-Configuration
I'd be happy to help by sharing config files if you need any more help.

@johncfigueroa no luck on the lr-imame4all emulator so I think i tried lr-Mame2010 and it worked better and it let me edit with TAB and on PS4 controller R2 brought up the same menu interestingly enough. But of course not all the ROMS worked because of the different sets. Is it better to go the the 2010 version because it supports more ROMs anyways?

@Sinistar83 https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/MAME#emulators-advancemame-mame4all-pi-lr-imame4all-lr-mame2003-lr-mame2010
Mame4all-pi has the best performance of them all, but a limited romset. This is the best choice for the Raspberry Pi 1. lr-imame4all is the libretro equivalent, with possibly weaker performance, but features all the libretro benefits (RetroArch controller configurations, shader support, save states, etc). lr-mame2003 is a good choice for Raspberry Pi 2 and up, as it has a comprehensive romset, and good performance, as well as also being libretro. The AdvMames are popular as they have a huge romset, but they're non-libretro. All other MAME cores are experimental and should normally be avoided.
lr-mame2003 is my general recommendation (has TAB remapping) but advmame is better in certain situations.

sinistar83, you ever figure this out? I am having the same problem.
