I recently heard that the Raspberry Pi 5 can now come with either 256GB or 512GB of storage. I’m curious, can we use an SSD instead of the mini-SD cards? Is there any chance we’ll get support for SSDs in the future? I know this is a bit of a newbie question, but I’m really interested in finding out. Thanks for any info you can give me!

@mat don't need support for it, per se, unless you need RetroPie iso, but when it supports the latest Pi OS, it will work with SSDs just like sdcard or USB Sticks work now. You can install Raspberry PI OS on the ssd, then Install RetroPie on that. There are threads for installing on PI5.

Should work fine on an SSD. You just have to install manually or use an unofficial build without support. You'll probably gain faster OS boot times.
