Hello! I am considering building another RetroPie console that I'll connect to a TV and use with PS4 controllers. I am wondering what the best Raspberry Pi model is for running a large variety of games. Ideally I'd be able to play everything from Gameboy and NES to PS1 and PS2. Also, are PS4 controllers a good option for RetroPie as far as function goes?

I wouldn't recommend any Pi for PS2, it's experimental at best

Below that, pi 4 or pi 5 should be fine for PS1/PSX era

        Pi 5 4GB

Retroflag GPI with raspberry pi zero 2 w/ wifi

Good to know. Is there any serious difference between Pi 3 and 4? It might be nice to potentially play the Minecraft Port, and you can't use a Pi 4 for that.

@CobraDesign47 The Pi4 is much more powerful than the Pi3.

As far as Minecraft is concerned, the version that's available on the Pi3 is an old and un-maintained version (from here) and I wouldn't count on it being even remotely up-to-part with the modern versions available now.

Is there a better way to play Minecraft? I'm also wondering what defines a PC game that this emulator can play. Does it mean the kind of PC ROMS that I could download and play on my laptop?

I'm kind of a noob with RetroPie, so excuse my stupid questions, but is there any way to play newer games such as Switch games? I assume that would require a different SBC/ Emulator, any recommendations there?

                  A DOS game.

Yes, that's possible, though such emulator is not included in RetroPie.

It would require a PC to run a Nintendo Switch emulator at acceptable speed.

Thank you all for the feedback, I'll probably go with a Pi 4 and retropie.
