We accidentally misconfigured the controller on first configuration, and I am not able to select anything. While trying to figure out how to reconfigure it, I realized that no input is coming from the rpi 400 keyboard and the USB mouse doesn't appear to be working either. Do these need to be configured somehow for retropie to use them?

      Rpi 400
Power Supply used: shipped with rpi400
      RetroPie Version Used: 4.8
      Built From: Raspberry pie imager
USB Devices connected: mouse, PS4 controller
      Controller used: PS4 Controller

      #rpi400

      How to replicate the problem:

You can try to reset the input configuration from terminal window, run :

        sudo ~/RetroPie-Setup/retropie_setup.sh

        Then go:
Manage Packages -> Core Packages -> emulationstation -> Configuration or Configuration / Tools -> emulationstation

and choose to Clear/Reset Emulation Station input configuration.

@sugarfree thanks very much. Now I am having a different problem however: Whenever I try to install retropie using Rpi imager I get the error "Verifying write failed. Contents of SD card is different from what was written to it." I guess I will open a new post to try to deal with this.

In the end, I made a new retropie image and then made sure to properly configure the controller at startup. The other issue was related to faulty card reader.
