Is it possible to use Linux apps on RetroPie?
-
I know RetroPie is based on Linux, but my question is: can I use apps like Firefox and Wine?
Another related question: is it possible to install MangoHud? I know RetroArch has an FPS counter, but it doesn’t provide the information I need, such as GPU/CPU usage, temperatures, and clock. Since my Pi5 is overclocked, I’d like to monitor this information. It would also help me set parameters for the emulators, especially for GameCube and PS2. After all, I’d be able to see which settings demand more from the CPU or GPU.

RetroPie is not based on Linux, it runs on Linux - it's not an OS by itself and it needs an existing Linux installation to work. As such, you can install other programs on it, either through
apt
/flatpak
/ compilation/etc. Do note that depending on the platform you're on (Pi5), certain applications may not be available or not working on it.
