Help with adding bios files, get nothing but retropie system on emulation station with VLC media file bios files

Do VLC media file BIOS files work on retropie? I have tried but doesn't work for me. VLC media files are the only BOIS files I can find anywhere. Please help me, I'm very new to retropie. I add the .bin files to the bios folder and still nothing on emulation station other than the retropie system. If you have any suggeted links or websites that would be highly appreciated, thanks! :D

@Ethan64 you need to add games to the rom directories to get their respective systems to appear.
