Disable 'Configure Input' menu
-
Hello, is there a way to disable the "Configure Input" because it sometimes happen that, if I want to quit the EmulationStation I accidentally activate this item.
The best solution for RetroPie 4.0.3 would be annother window which pops up and shows text:
"This will configure a new Input device. If you accidentally hit the config menu, because you are cyperghost, please press a button within 5 seconds to abort!"
PS: I am not a native speaker, so there could some errors within the hint text and may be corrected by skilled people.

I agree with this request. I'm not used to use my raspi with a keyboard plugged in (and I think several users use this way), and the only way to interrupt the configuration is by pressing Esc (or connecting through ssh and killing emulationstation).
One can argue that "Configuring again is faster than getting a keyboard and plugging to press esc, or connecting via ssh to kill emulationstation". The problem is that I like to disable the "reset" and "quit retroarch" hotkeys, and after the configuration these keys are re-enabled. Fortunately it creates a backup of the previous config, but I have to use a keyboard or SSH as well...

Yes you descriped exactly my device configuration. I have only pads plugged in and if I accidentally activate the config I kill the process via SSH. My first idea was "Show a windows and select Yes/No for progress" but JOKE.... where should be a selection without a correct config? So I think the best solution would be a countdown you can interrupt by ANY key event before the button mapping starts.Thank you for your suggestion and yes feel free to move the thread into right category.

Another option could be to move the config input out of the start menu and put it into the retropie menu. I don't know how feasible that would be, but I also find the placement of it annoying.

@mattrixk wow! take it easy man! hehe. It's a little drastic, uh? I like to see the input configuration in ES after a fresh install.

How did you access the Main Menu and chose Configure Input without a correct config? :-) I think a message to choose between yes/no to continue with the config is a good idea. I'm not talking about the input configuration after a fresh install! It is a cool feature and don't need confirmation.

Hey guys, a confirmation after selecting "CONFIGURE INPUT" was implemented today (2016-12-03). It's cool isn't it?! :-)
You have to update emulationstation from source to get it.

I didn't try out so far. Nice to see such developments are done. Those tweaks are not essential but I'm sure the response is the same like the wifikey import for ex. - positive! Things are getting better 😀 ... Thanks to the dev team
