Where do I setup buttons on Xarcade?

I got Retropie running. I put some ROMS on from USB stick to test. No problems so far.
I just can't figure out where I setup what button does what. When Retropie first started it might have asked me to press something to configure, but I have no clue what I did.
So, I can get in game, but I can't figure what button gets me back out of the game so I can select another game.
I also pressed a keyboard key once and got stuck in a Palette menu which I couldn't figure out how to back out of.
I've got the Xarcade Dual (no trackball).

Did you ever figure it out? I'm having the same issue. I know how to reprogram my x-arcade stick but i just have had no luck finding the diagram of default buttons for retropie.

@djangelf Please do not post a support request without first reading and following the advice in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first (which is at the top of every page, and has to be agreed to when registering)
(eg - Open a new thread - note there are existing thread on configuring the X-Arcade, and there are youtube videos too).

@BuZz it was more of a follow up request. I've been reading the help threads for days. And everything keeps pointing me back to the help page which doesn't have an answer.
