      I've been able to map controls for every other emulator to the keyboard via config files on my RPi3, and they're all working perfectly! (Thanks in no small part to help on this forum. Thank you!)

      However, Reicast is being stubborn. I ran the auto configuration script, which recognized my keyboard presses, but when I boot the emulator, I get a date/time screen that won't let me interact in any way. Off to the side of the emulator, I see symbols appearing with each button press, like the keyboard is getting logged on the command line but not affecting the emulator.

      I hope that makes sense...has anyone else had this issue?

          @bfenty I haven't tried mapping a keyboard to the Reicast emulator but I initially had trouble with my Xbox 360 controller.

          You might check out this thread and maybe it will point you in the right direction:

          We talked about both the PS3 & Xbox 360 controllers in that thread.

              What fixed this for me is going into the /opt/retropie/configs/dreamcast/emu.cfg file and adding this line under the [input] heading:

              evdev_mapping_1 = /opt/retropie/configs/dreamcast/mappings/keyboard.cfg

              I think it was not loading the keyboard config file before, and so it wasn't recognizing my inputs.

              Thanks @backstander for the link, that's what solved it for me!

                  could you find any solution? I'm using a wifi keyboard which is working fine except n64 and reicast. No matter what i do it's not working and i can't get pass date/time screen. Whenever i press any button on the keyboard it writes key's 'code' on the terminal screen behind of dreamcast screen.

                    Same issue here...

                    Adding the keyboard.cfg parameter in /opt/retropie/configs/dreamcast/emu.cfg did not solve my problem.
