PS1 games that have bugs in retropie
-
Driver and Hot Wheels Turbo Racing are only games which doesn't work well on RPi2:
Driver. Same problem like others have, can't try again first mission, game crashes and throws me into Retropie menu.
Hot Wheels. Screen will be black after intro video. It's not (kinda) freezes because FPS stays at 60 (and frames count gets bigger while black screen). Tried couple different ROMs but the problem still exists.

Using a different Bios does help as well cause i use the SCPH101 which was for the slim PSX system.
-
Some updates to my tests:
- T'ai Fu - Wrath Of The Tiger = loads the game, but fails to load the first level, the game freezes on the loading.
- Looney Tunes - Sheep Raider (Sheep, Dog 'n' Wolf) = Heavy slowdowns on large open areas and in the main hall map.
- Shipwreckers! = The ''parrot'' loading screen has glitched graphics.
- Oddworld - Abe's Exxodus = Game Saving does not create save file (needs to be confirmed by someone else, could have been about the different filesystem format I used)
-
Why not post all these results into a google spreadsheet like how MAME game compatibility lists are stored. We can track Game, Bios file tested, emulator tested, comments, etc. That way it can be also added to the wiki page and more people can add to it.
-
Well, it would be easiest and most common solution, I understand, that this topic becomes so scattered in terms of information over the time, so all of these should be put into some sort of document.
-
Trouble is that who would be the one to maintain it ? I'm not that skilled with Excel-stuff and it would need to write those things over here anyway, before moving them to the sheet on Google.
-
@dd-indeed we would all maintain it as a open community. Like the mame compatibility google sheets files. The problem lies with a need for someones to want to update their findings. Which I don't see very much on the mame ones
-
Yea, that is the problem. So what should we do, just write them over here as usual ? At least we should write down the hardware we use, emulator we use, bios we use and some basic information, before writing down the game and the issue.

So I've started a Google Spreadsheet. I think I have every game in the list. Can some of you try to edit it with items you've already tested?

I'll try it now, thanks.
-
@HurricaneFan Thanks for starting this! Just a little note on your spreadsheet: pcsx-rearmed is editable with predefined fields but the libretro isn't yet.
-
I did first notes to it, see if they're visible already.
-
@sashby Try it now. Haven't used Google Spreadsheet permissions in a really long time. A little rusty.
-
@dd-indeed What did you edit? I don't see anything new.
-
I added one. I'll add more soon. Is this the right format?
The fields don't automatically expand or can I adjust them to fit? Right now my notes cover pi 2 notes.Spyro the Dragon 2 - Ripto's Rage
Status Pi 3: Has issues
Status Pi 2: Untested
Notes Pi 3:
Audio cuts out 60 seconds into cutscenes. Audio resumes once cutscene has finished. Fix: None so far.
Audio issues (Brief noise spike anomlies. Fix: Change RGUI settings under Options > Sound: Reverb disabled & Sound: Interpolation off).*The noise spikes. I'm not sure what to call them. They last about half a second but they're very abrupt. Almost like a bang sound??
-
Ah, my mistake, I had selected the wrong tab, pcsx-rearmed instead of lr-pcsx-rearmed. I'll change them over to the lr-version, because I use that too. Last night the lr-version sheet didn't work at first, so I accidentally went with the second tab instead.

What HDD device and filesystem format do you use with the games or are the games run from the internal SD-card ? Also, changing interpolation settings might do the trick or even change the audio plugin.

@alleninhave I have played Twisted Metal 1 &2 and they works perfectly on my Retropie 4.2 pi3.
-
@Sashby You should be able to widen the columns if you need to.
I've turned text wrap on. That should help too.

Decided to do double checks today, I managed to get up to Dino Crisis 2, gonna continue the filling another day. So far, I've started to have a feeling, that most of the audio and game jerking issues could be about the data loading stream, games with massive maps are especially prone to this.
Contributions to the project are always appreciated, so if you would like to support us with a donation you can do so here.
