Disable Xbox Controller in Kodi

Hi, my Xbox 360 controller works will ALL games, but when i start "kodi" does it press and hold-down left D-Pad so i can't controll it with the Xbox360 Controller.
I managed to connect my phone so i can use the kodi app to move around. But i need to remove batteries from the controller Before i can do that.SO is there anyway to disable the controller for just kodi?

I think you could just disable gamepad support for kodi in Kodi settings under System-Input.
