Some general questions

Hello Everyone,

I have looked through the tutorials and read documentation on Github; full disclosure I am a noob....

I successfully set-up my latest gen Pi with the easy to use set-up and did my initial transfer of files; a few questions:

1 If I wish to add more roms at a later date do I have to empty what I currently have on the stick? In other words if I add more roms and put the USB stick back into the pi will it automatically the new roms only?

If I wish to add other emulators from the experimental menu do I simply download and place in the retropie folder and then begin adding roms like the pre-loaded stuff that is loaded from the pi to begin with?

I am sure I will have more but this is it for now.....I really enjoy the site and ease of use. Thank you in advance.

you can delete the roms from your usb stick once they have been transferred to your pi. They were transferred. They're now in your pi. To add more roms, repeat what you did with the new roms.

if you use the experimental menu the new emulators or ports will be setup automatically for you, yes there will be new folders and you just do what you have been doing. Of course, some may require further steps to get things working, and they are experimental after all, perhaps not stable on the pi, or lacking features. Just make sure you go through all the documentation if any.

But before going all out grabbing those packages, why don't you set up your new system and have fun with all the preinstalled stuff first?

Good point also; I am just a collector with a ton of stuff.....just looking at how to get more on there at one time.

On another note; for Ethernet to work is it simply plugging the cable in and away? I see a section on wifi but nothing on Ethernet connection.....

Yup....seems to be working and Scrape is running as we speak. I read some other threads and it appears most do not shut the pi down; is that true? Any concerns with heat or with having the Ethernet left connected?
