Hey everyone.
I'm looking for a way to play the old international karate game called IK+
I used to have it on my Atari ST way back in the day :)
I've got RetroPie up and running on my Raspi3 but I don't think there's a mame rom for this game?
Should I seek out an Amiga one? Would it perform ok do you know?
Cheers!

Hi :)
Why not try to set it up for Atari ST, and see how it turns out? -
IK+ came out on the Commodore 64 as well - that might be your best shot because it'll run pretty smoothly.
Also - if you liked IK+ you'd probably like its predecessor Way of the Exploding Fist.
-
Ha! I had Way of the Exploding Fist on my ZX Spectrum :)
I'll check these routes out, thanks!
-
Ha, yes I had Way of the Exploding Fist on my old Acorn Electron!
I believe there was a port of IK+ released for the original PSX as well, no idea what it's like but would be easy to get up and running, as the Libretro PSX emulator pretty much works off the bat.

Atari ST emulator called Hatari is included in RetroPie. You'll need to set it up, copy TOS image file and ST disk image (with IK+). Google Atari ST and RetroPie you will find link do wiki easily.
You can get it work with other emulator as well (C64 and Amiga).

Hi,
I just posted an extensive guide to configuring and running Hatari which definitely plays IK+ perfectly (it was the first game I tested!)
I posted about this in the support forum section literally ten minutes ago, but to save anyone hunting for it the url to the guide is:
How-to Guide: Atari ST and STe Computing on the Raspberry Pi with RetroPie’s Hatari Emulator
-
I tried the PSX version of IK+, it ran perfectly, no configuration needed. It seemed like a fairly straight port of the original.

@PingSpike If your running IK+ on Hatari make sure that you use an official Tos Image if possible as I'm unsure if the EmuTos Hatari provides is 100% compatible.
The reason I mention this is because if IK+ runs on an Atari STe (whether its original or emulated hardware) the game bypasses the attract sequence and into the demo mode with the words "Bum Copy" Failing to start the game quickly causes it to Bomb-out and requiring a reset.
Apart from that issue, the game runs perfectly so I hope you have a great time playing it. :)

@movisman I know you can't send me the rom you used but are you able to tell me the file name so I try to find it?
@RetroResolution thats an amazing post! I admire your dedication!

a simple google search might help you out http://lmgtfy.com/?q=playstation+ik%2B :)

I tried the Atari route and got there in the end, it's a little tricky and I suffered with 'Bum Copy' messages a few times, but it does work.
I also tried the PSX route too and I have to admit, it's much easier.
However, the PSX route offers slightly lower quality graphics (the text for the scores at the top isn't as sharp as it is on the Atari version) but there isn't much noticeable different in-game so I think I'm going to stick with the PSX version (which also loads a lot quicker).
I might need to make some tweaks somewhere though as the PSX uses some odd keyboard controls (I'm using arcade controls on an I-Pac2) so I might need to remap something to make it easier to use.
But, it works!!!
I can play IK+ !!!
This is just brilliant, absolutely bloody brilliant!
Thanks everyone :))
