@TheJullasicFox i would try a light scrubbing with a wet mr clean magic eraser. Dont scrub too hard cause it can scratch the plastic but i think that should clean this up very good. This doesnt look like a "yellowed" system from the pic.
-
@TheJullasicFox I'd take it apart and give it a good scrub as @edmaul69 said, but you definitely don't have a yellowed unit. I don't know that you'll need peroxide, just a bit of elbow grease.
For the power button you can wire the stock Nintendo switch up to a Mausberry circuit very easily.
Keep us posted on your progress and don't be afraid to ask for help. I've learned a TON from this community as I've built my Super Famicom project.

@TheJullasicFox as with @obsidianspider doing a super famicom/euro snes, i have done a us version super nes. I can help you with stuff as well. Just dont be afraid to ask us.
-
@obsidianspider Sorry, the lighting in the picture was crappy.
-
@TheJullasicFox No need to apologize. I wish my Super Nintendo from 1991 looked that good. You can wash off that crud, but mine is very yellowed.
-
@TheJullasicFox If anyone is wondering why its taking forever, its because I am waiting to get my SNES screwdriver, which the order says it will come sunday, but i don't think my postal service delivers on sunday, but I guess i'll find out!
-
@obsidianspider Yeah, I was thinkin' bout that mausberry circuit. Thanks for the tip. Like I said, I have a portable charger (PocketJuice) that has a power button, so I just turn the switch into a button and have a washer press down on the PocketJuice's button.

@TheJullasicFox You're fine. My Super Famicom took three weeks to get to my house from Japan and then when things were about 90% complete my project stalled and it's been almost month while my friend who is working on designing and 3D printing a part for me is in the middle of buying a house.
-
@TheJullasicFox One neat thing about this community is how different people come up with solutions. I'm looking forward to watching your build.

Okay guys. Thanks for all the support. I'll have the SNES open and with the Pi inside by Monday, however, on Wednesday, I am going on vacation, and will be back next Sunday. I'll keep you posted afterwards, and have a good weekend, sincerely TheJullasicFox :)

Okay! The SNES is open! So here I go, with my process. Stay tuned!!
-
So its taken apart now!

@TheJullasicFox Sorry my photography is horrible. I'm using a MacBook.
-
@TheJullasicFox It's finished now, but I will make edits later, like a functional power button and reset button Thanks for joining me!
