Can't find "lr-fba-next" in setup script
-
I've setup 20 systems in RetroPie, all completely scraped and everything works perfectly. I really like RetroPie, you guys have done a great job creating RetroPie.
But I have run into a weird problem. lr-fba-next is not installed and I can't find it anywhere in the RetroPie setup script. It can't be selected from the runcommand menu ( only lr-fbalpha and pifba are available ). And I can't find it in /opt/retropie/libretrocores .
I updated Raspbian, the Setup Script and updated all packages, but it didn't solve my problem.
But I want to install it, so I what should I do from this point?
Pi Model: Raspberry Pi 3 Model B
RetroPie Version Used: 4.06
Built From: Pre made SD Image with Kodi Dual-Boot
USB Devices connected: External Hard Drive
Controller used: PS3 Sixaxis Controller
Error messages received: none
Log found in /dev/shm/runcommand.log (if relevant): not relevant
Guide used: No guide found about my problem.

Emulator: lr-fba-next -
I noticed that it seemed to switch to fbalpha some time recently. I'm guessing that was preferred over fba-next.
-
lr-fba
has been renamed tolr-fbalpha2012
andlr-fba-next
has been renamed tolr-fbalpha
-
also
lr-pocketsnes
tolr-snes9x2002
,lr-catsfc
tolr-snes9x2005
andlr-snes9x-next
tolr-snes9x2010
to match the upstream libretro names.if updating retropie-setup they should be correctly renamed on your system, and the emulators.cfg updated also. any "per rom" emulator settings will need to be re-done however.
-
Also just to clarify the reason for the renaming. They were renamed to reflect the upstream code changes from libretro/retroarch

Thanks for the clarification, I searched for "lr-fbalpha" on google and I only got a few hits. So I thought its some old unused emulator. Got many hits when searching for "lr-fba-next" though.
I used the wiki, but it still uses the name lr-fba-next.
I build a romset with clrmamepro, and used a FBA "0.2.97.38" DAT file on a 0.78 MAME romset, but it doesn't work. Do I have to use a different MAME romset as source?
-
0.2.97.39 - but 0.2.97.38 works from my testing mostly - you can't build it from just a 0.78 romset though
-
On this wiki https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/Managing-ROMs it says to use fba 0.2.97.38 for lr-fba-next ( lr-fbalpha now ) so I think I must use that DAT file. But I probably have to use a 0.173 MAME romset as source.
When I build my fba 0.2.97.38 romset of a 0.78 MAME romset, clrmamepro didn't gave me any errors. But apparently it can still go wrong. I will try to rebuild it of a 0.173 MAME romset.
Thanks!

I have an odd issue after the updates, I have a third emulator option in my run command menu that's called lr-fbalpha2012lpha. It doesn't seem to link to any real emulator, cause all games just dont load. Any idea on how to remove that option as it's the first option for all FBA games?
-
edit
/opt/retropie/configs/fba/emulators.cfg
it might be the renames colliding (due to lr-fba being part of the longer lr-fba-next). I will have to have a think how to resolve this. Thanks for the feedback.

You can select lr-fbalpha as default emulator from the runcommand menu. You can also remove the new emulator by using the RetroPie Setup Script.

@PolluxNL
Can't remove it since it's not a real emulator. Not a big deal, I've changed the default already. It only too me 30 mins to find out why half my arcade games just stopped working with the name change and all. -

I think you mean /opt/retropie/configs/fba/emulators.cfg
-
@PolluxNL Yep. Edited.

I believe I have resolved this issue for people updating - but those already with a broken
fba/emulators.cfg
- can delete the config, and re-install the emulators again which will restore it (same for thearcade/emulators.cfg
if that is being used)
