Retropie - Ubuntu 16.04 LTS. x86 only or 64-bit also
-
I love RetroPie, it is great on a Raspberry pi 3, and even on the pi zero it is rather impressive.
I am an avid Linux user and run Linux on every device I can, which leads into my real question.
I have a laptop that I want to run RetroPie on (portable, built in screen, keyboard, and mouse). the laptop has 8 gigs of Ram, and I tend to lean towards 64-bit OSes.
according to this link for setting up RetroPie on Ubuntu it is for the x86 architecture only.
but according to the release notes for RetroPie 4.1 many systems indicate "x86 / x86_64 only"
since my desired install will be used as an everyday laptop, and not just a RetroPie system, the extra RAM comes into play when using virtualization for other tasks.
Does the setup on an existing 16.04 system support 64-bit? I tried it on a 64-bit system, and everything looks good, until you launch an emulator, then it goes blank and returns to emulation station.
I have done the install on a 32-bit system, and everything works perfectly.by chance is there some argument I can pass to properly install on a 64-bit system?
thank you for any guidance.

I think I may have placed this in the wrong area, if I did, I am sorry

It works the same on 64bit and should be fine. I moved the post. Cheers.
Missed end of your post. Not sure why it wouldn't work, but try again and we can debug with some logs.

I updated my post above. Try on 64bit and if it doesn't work, we can debug from a log.

I will attempt a fresh 64-bit install and reply back here. if it does not work, I will get the logs and post them.
I do appreciate any help. -
