      Hi,

Iv been working on a portable retropie using an adafruit 2.8 screen everything is working fine except the controls.
Iv got some tact switches wired to the gpio as controls which work fine navigating the menus but once in an emulator the controls do nothing. Iv configured the controls under the emulation station menu which I thought set basic controls within each emulator so I'm a little confused.
I'm pretty sure it's just something I'm doing wrong so any help would be greatly appreciated.

        @giles2005 Please provide more information:

It's impossible to answer the "my project will not work, why?" question when it is asked alone.

@giles2005 the reply wasn't rude and seems perfectly reasonable to me - but sure, get on the defensive and see how that works out for you. (Or a better idea - please provide more information)

Maybe if people actually read the sticky post which you have to "agree to read" on signup, we wouldn't have to go over this again and again.

To help us help you - please make sure you read the sticky topics before posting - https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first

I had read through the sticky and I have searched for information before I got to this point. I thought I'd provided enough information to begin with I by no means expected an instant problem solve I was just getting the conversation started.

How are you detecting GPIO inputs and converting them to key presses? What version of RetroPie are you running? What emulators are you using (not just the system)? That would be helpful.

I agree. That is why it is asked for here: https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first

If you provide details of these controls people will look at them.
See "Attachment of config files: (PLEASE USE PASTEBIN.COM FOR LARGE LOGS)" in above link.
It's like asking for help with your essay but not providing a copy.

Iv got some tact switches wired to the gpio as controls

                  How?
Is it this, this or even this or something else entirely?

I thought I'd provided enough information to begin with

How you could think this if you had read https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first
is beyond me. Imagine you were answering your own question but it wasn't written by you. Imagine trying to help out with issue. Ok, I'll take a look at the config first....nope.....ok, I'll check the wiring........nope. Ok, so lets look at which emulators don't work then......errr.....do you not get it?

no need to try make me out to be an idiot

I was not. However, you are welcome to think what you like, it's a free world.

What is this? is this the bit where your post was incomplete by accident and that you did actually include more info but it never made it to the forum and you hadn't noticed?

                  Good Luck.

@giles2005 Bit childish of you that, dude. You do know this software is free and these guys do all the coding in their free time? I thought it was a reasonable request to ask for more info initially. You don't ring a garage and say my cars broken, and when they ask you what make, model and year it is you kick off and say you'll fix it yourself do you?

Before you share the solution to "the problem", you should tell us what "the problem" actually is!!?? You still have not done this. Currently, your problem is still "my project"does not work! Bizarre. I shall assume from your username that you were born back in 2005 and it shows.
