      I am following the above guide to create a permanent LED to show that the Power is on. Where can I order the needed resistor from within the States? Also they must be Paypal friendly.

          @XD3l Use old electronics from the 80's
          For the LED resistors... it's common to use 220R for red, green and yellow in 5V powered systems. But you can also use higher values. A typical LED uses 15-20mA.

            @XD3l I don't know if there stuff is also in the US but some electronic warehouses sell Xmas calendars for electronics.
            There are 24 doors to open and behind every door there is a new (very small) project to build. Here is a list with experiments :) and I think there also is a kit for the Raspberry Pi online :)
