High temp after 4.1 upgrade

After upgrading to 4.1 I'm seeing very high idle temperatures on my unit (PI 3 model B).
WIth only the emulation station menu open the temp is currently at 74 degrees.
I've also noticed a temp warning in the top right corner when playing games.I had no issues like this before the upgrade.
Has anyone else encountered this?
