This is my first retropie setup so please excuse my ignorance.

I have installed retropie 3.1 from the website and booted up successfully. Keyboard works. I tried adding a Xbox 360 but cannot for the life of me get it working.

Does the Xbox 360 require a Bluetooth adaptor even if I am running on a raspberry pi 3 which has Bluetooth built in? If so do I need a Bluetooth dongle for a PS4 or wiimote?

        https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/Setting-up-the-XBox360-controller

Note that if you have wireless controllers you will need a wireless receiver plugged into your raspberry pi (Official Microsoft xbox360 receiver, or knock offs like zettaguard, VicTsing also work)

        Xbox360 doesn't use Bluetooth.

@herb_fargus thanks, I now feel like an idiot. When I read the documentation it said xpad was the working method and the other did not work. I scrolled down and now see what you posted.

@natas originally the xboxdrv was first, then xpad was swapped to the top once the kernel broke the xboxdrv compatibility. The note on the dongle being needed really should be near the top as its irrespective of the driver being used. Microsoft really should use a standardised protocol rather than their own proprietary stuff... would make things less confusing (and would require less hardware)

@herb_fargus said in Raspberry pi 3 and Xbox 360 controller:

Apple's guilty of this all too often as well. Neither really likes to share with the rest of the class.
