      HI!

I scraped all of my roms. Everything went fine. Though, is it possible to get a better image quality for SNES roms? As mentionned in this post (https://www.reddit.com/r/RetroPie/comments/4jp1p3/scraping_images_issues/) my NES roms images looks perfect, but the SNES rom images do not look very good (pixelated)

I'm not sure about his solution so I ask first.

I know about " -max_width=400: The max width of images. Larger images will be resized.", but don't know the effect.

      Thanks in advance!

I've noticed that many of the scraped SNES images aren't the greatest quality, so you're not alone there. To get a better image you can try a different scraper, that might pull a better image from whatever DB it's associated with, or you can update the images manually, which is what I've done. It's also very time consuming. :)

As for the 400 width, it will resize a larger image down to a 400 pixel width. However, choosing a higher pixel image may not always look better due to the way the resizing algorithm works. You may get a worse image due to downsample aliasing. I wouldn't worry so much regarding higher pixel image resizing.

You can view the downloaded images by setting up an FTP server on your Pi so you can easily access files from a remote computer. They're located in an emulationstation\downloaded_images\ folder by system. The gameslist.xml file will contain the associated image path and name for each game, but typically the format goes: <rom_name>-image.jp

        Good luck. :)

          Ok, thanks for the infos.

I don't have the time to do this manually so I'll live with it right now.

I setup the scraper to download the images in the same folder as the rom folder. But I understand how you were helping with the path for the downloaded images.

          Thanks again for your help!!

NP, and yes your image location may be different. In the past I just used the built in scrapper with Emulation Station and where I described is where they were dropped, and I was just using that as a reference. Go by the <image> entry in the gameslist.xml file to tell you what file you need to change. If you go with a higher res image and it looks blocky, try resizing it to a 400 pixel width and copying that to your Pi. You may get a better result letting a PC image editor resize your images vs emulationstation doing it.
